ViaVela Machina Privacy Notice
Last updated: [DATE — fill before publishing]
Machina is offline desktop software. This notice is short because there is little to say — and what it says is the point.
1. We do not collect your data
ViaVela Solutions LLC does not collect, receive, or have access to:
- your diagnostic sessions, trouble codes, freeze frames, or live data;
- the vehicles you work on, or your customers;
- your notes, chat history, or knowledge-base contents;
- usage analytics or telemetry of any kind.
There is no account, no sign-in to a ViaVela service, and no remote access to your installation.
2. Where your data lives
Everything the Software records is stored on your own machine. Settings, sessions and diagnostic records, the AI chat history and the Professional Mode execution log live in your user profile. The larger reference data — the knowledge base, downloaded manuals and diagrams, vehicle-reference files and application logs — lives in a data folder next to the application, or wherever you point the DIAGAI_DATA_DIR setting (the knowledge base alone can also be placed elsewhere with DIAGAI_DB_PATH). You control it, you back it up, and you delete it by deleting the files.
3. The AI runs locally
The AI assistant runs on your machine through a local model runtime. Vehicle data and chat content are not sent to a cloud AI service.
4. Connections the Software may make
The Software is offline-first, but some optional features reach the network when you use them:
- Vehicle reference data — public vehicle-information services, queried with vehicle identifiers (for example a VIN or make/model), not with your personal details.
- Wiring diagrams and manuals — a local server you run, or a hosted source you configure. That source sees your requests and its own terms apply.
- Model downloads — when you choose to download an AI model, that download comes from the model host.
Each of these is a request you initiate by using the feature. The party at the other end will see the request, as with any network request from your computer. ViaVela does not receive a copy.
5. Your customers' information
If you record customer or vehicle-owner details in your session notes, that information stays on your machine and remains your responsibility under whatever privacy law applies to your business. ViaVela is not a processor of it, because we never receive it.
6. Changes
We will update this notice if the Software's behaviour changes, and revise the date above.
